- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 3 cups buttercream frosting store-bought or homemade
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease three round cake pans and line them with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs lightly, then add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
