Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups buttercream frosting

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 8-inch round cake pans and line them with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Crack in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry mix. Stir gently until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Once the cakes cool completely, frost them with buttercream and decorate as desired.
