Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 fresh apples, finely sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake mold.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix the granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, and milk until smooth.
  • Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients to form a soft batter.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared mold and arrange the apple slices on top.
  • Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter for the topping, then sprinkle it over the apples.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, then cool in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a healthier twist, use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour. You can substitute granulated sugar with honey or maple syrup. If you prefer a gluten-free option, try using a gluten-free flour blend. Store the cake in an airtight container for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze it for up to 2 months. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
