- 4 cups chopped apples
- 1 juice lemon to prevent browning
- 2 tbsp salted butter
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Peel and core the apples, then chop them into bite-sized pieces and squeeze lemon juice over them.
In a large skillet or cast iron pan, melt the butter over low heat.
Add brown sugar, white sugar, and cinnamon to the pan, cooking for about 2 minutes until melted and combined.
Carefully add the chopped apples to the pan, stirring gently to coat them in the mixture.
Continue to stir and cook for 12-14 minutes until the apples are softened and fork-tender.
For the best texture, use firm, crisp apples such as Gala or Fuji. Adjust the sugar to your taste; you can also enhance the flavor with nutmeg or vanilla extract. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Serve warm with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or caramel drizzle for a delightful treat.
