- 2 tablespoons dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 55 g melted and cooled butter
- 3 cups wheat flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 90 g melted and cooled butter
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup moscabus sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- to taste lemon juice or milk for the glaze
- q.s. chopped nuts Optional
In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, a tablespoon of sugar, and the yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add the yeast mixture, egg, melted butter, flour, remaining sugar, and salt into a blender or mixing bowl. Blend until you get a soft, slightly sticky dough.
Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rest for an hour.
Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape on a floured surface. Spread the melted butter evenly over the dough.
In a separate bowl, mix the cinnamon and moscabus sugar, then sprinkle over the buttered dough.
Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other to create a log, then slice it into equal pieces.
Place the slices cut-side up in a greased baking pan and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Bake the rolls at 180°C (350°F) for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
Drizzle the warm rolls with a glaze made from powdered sugar and lemon juice or milk.
Consider using almond milk for a dairy-free option. Brown sugar works instead of white sugar in the dough. For gluten-free versions, swap the wheat flour for a gluten-free blend. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze individually. Reheat in the microwave for a lovely warm treat later. Enjoy experimenting with flavors by adding nuts or different sugars!
