Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk (43°C)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped strawberries
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons softened unsalted butter
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  • Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a bowl; let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add melted butter, egg, flour, and salt; mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • In a saucepan, combine chopped strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice; cook on medium heat until thickened (5-7 minutes).
  • Let strawberry filling cool slightly and mash lightly with a fork.
  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Roll out dough into a rectangle (30x45 cm); spread softened butter, then spoon and spread the strawberry filling.
  • Roll dough from the long side into a log and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  • Place rolls in the prepared pan, cover, and let rise for 20-30 minutes.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Prepare cream cheese glaze by beating together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream.
  • Spread glaze over warm rolls and garnish with fresh strawberries if desired.
