Large mixing bowl
Wooden spoon
Kitchen towel
Baking sheet
Parchment paper
- 500 grams flour
- 100 grams sugar
- 1 sachet active dry yeast
- 200 ml warm milk
- 100 grams softened butter
- 2 pieces eggs
- 1 pinch salt
- optional raisins for added sweetness
In a small bowl, gently mix the active dry yeast with the warm milk and a tablespoon of sugar, then let it sit for about 10 minutes until bubbles form.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, and a pinch of salt. Add the softened butter and mix until it forms a crumbly texture.
Add the activated yeast mixture and the eggs to the dry ingredients, mixing with a wooden spoon before kneading until smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rest in a warm place for about an hour, or until it doubles in size.
Once the dough has risen, divide it into two parts, roll each into a long rope, and form a braid. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
