Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Loaf pan
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • Spatula
  • Wire rack for cooling

Ingredients

  • 200 g salted butter
  • 4 pieces eggs
  • 250 g sugar
  • 300 g flour
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 100 ml milk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a large bowl, melt the salted butter and let it cool slightly.
  • Add the sugar to the melted butter and mix well until smooth.
  • Beat the eggs one at a time into the butter and sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  • Sift the flour and baking powder together. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in small batches, alternating with the milk, and mix gently until well combined.
  • Butter a loaf pan and pour the batter into it; tap the pan lightly on the counter to remove air bubbles.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick; if it comes out clean, the cake is ready. Let it cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a lactose-free version, use plant-based butter and milk. Enhance flavor with a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or wrap tightly and refrigerate for longer storage. For a touch of elegance, serve with a light dusting of powdered sugar or fresh berries.
