Equipment

  • Baking tray
  • Parchment paper
  • Pastry brush
  • Sharp knife or pizza cutter
  • Wire cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg beaten for egg wash
  • 100 g chocolate spread like Nutella

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Roll out your thawed puff pastry and cut it into strips about half an inch wide.
  • Take two strips of pastry and twist them together.
  • Shape the twisted pastry into a ring or nest and place each nest on the prepared baking tray.
  • Brush each nest generously with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Spoon or pipe chocolate spread into the center of each cooled nest and top with mini chocolate eggs or decorations.

Notes

These nests are best enjoyed fresh on the same day for maximum crispiness. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. Unfilled nests can be frozen for up to a month.
For variations, you can use peanut butter or dairy-free chocolate spread instead of Nutella, and feel free to get creative with toppings like fresh berries or crushed nuts.
