Ingredients

  • 100 g sugar
  • 250 g flour
  • 1 piece egg
  • 125 g softened butter
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • a pinch salt
  • to taste spices (cinnamon, ginger, etc.)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  • In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and your choice of spices.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 5 mm (1/4 inch) thick and cut out desired shapes with cookie cutters.
  • Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

For an extra flavor twist, consider adding a bit of orange zest or almond extract.
Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze them for up to 3 months.
Experiment with your favorite spices and consider adding nuts or chocolate chips for added texture and flavor.
