Ingredients

  • 3 Large onions (cut into thick slices)
  • 12 units Mozzarella sticks
  • 2 tablespoons Melted butter
  • 1 clove Chopped garlic
  • 2 Eggs (beaten)
  • 2 cups Breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup Wheat flour
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • for frying Frying oil

Instructions

  • Slice large onions into thick rings and separate the layers.
  • Tuck a mozzarella stick into the center of each onion ring.
  • Set up three shallow bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  • Dip each onion ring in flour, then in the egg wash, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Heat frying oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  • Fry the coated hoops for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Mix melted butter with chopped garlic and brush onto the warm rings.
  • Serve hot with marinara or ranch sauce on the side.
  • Enjoy with various dipping sauces for added flavor!

Notes

For extra crispiness, chill the assembled rings in the fridge for 15-20 minutes before frying. You can replace mozzarella with cheddar or pepper jack cheese for a different flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days, but they are best enjoyed fresh. Reheat in the oven for optimal crispiness.
