- 4 cups water or chicken broth
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or your favorite cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons butter

Bring water or broth to a boil in a large pot.
Slowly whisk in the grits to avoid lumps.
Lower the heat and let the grits simmer, stirring occasionally, until thick and creamy (20-25 minutes).

Pour the cooked grits into a greased baking dish and spread evenly.

Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
