Pastry brush
- 1 baguette baguette
- 200 g mozzarella, sliced
- 150 g cooked ham, sliced
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- q.s. Fresh basil leaves (optional) to taste
- q.s. Olive oil for brushing
- to taste Salt and pepper
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Cut the baguette in half lengthwise, but not all the way through.
Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard inside both halves of the baguette.
Layer the slices of ham on one side of the baguette.
Place the mozzarella slices on top of the ham, covering it completely.
Tuck a few fresh basil leaves between the ham and mozzarella.
Close the baguette and brush the outside with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Place the baguette on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
For an extra special touch, add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese on top before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven to regain crispiness. You can also freeze the stuffed baguette for up to 3 months; just thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat.
