- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
Cream the softened butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then pour in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
For extra moisture and flavor, brush the cooled cake with a simple syrup made from equal parts sugar and water.
Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or refrigerate if in a humid area.
Consider using almond or coconut milk for a dairy-free version or swapping granulated sugar with coconut sugar for a deeper flavor.
Don’t skip the room temperature step for the butter and eggs to achieve the best texture in your cake!
