Instructions

  • In another bowl, mix eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients gently until no lumps remain.
  • Pour in hot water and mix until just combined.
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For the frosting, mix softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and heavy cream until light and fluffy.
  • Layer the cooled cakes with frosting and decorate the top and sides as desired.
