  • Spatula
  • Parchment Paper
  • Measuring Cups

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh lump crab meat
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  • Pick through crab meat to remove any shells or cartilage.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay, lemon juice, parsley, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  • Gently fold in the crab meat to keep the texture intact.
  • Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into patties about 1 inch thick; place on a parchment paper-lined plate.
  • Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes to help firm up the patties.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Carefully add the crab cakes to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Transfer cooked crab cakes to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Notes

Use fresh, high-quality crab meat for the best flavor. If you want more crunch, use panko instead of regular breadcrumbs. For a healthier option, bake the crab cakes at 400°F for 15 minutes instead of frying. Serve with a side of remoulade or tartar sauce for dipping. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 3 months. For a smoky depth, try adding a pinch of smoked paprika to the mixture.
