- 3 medium apples (red or green)
- 200 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 150 g sugar
- 100 g butter at room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 120 ml milk
- a pinch salt
- q.s. glass sugar to decorate optional
Peel and slice the apples, cutting most into small pieces and reserving a few slices for decoration.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking mold with butter, sprinkling flour to prevent sticking.
In a large bowl, beat the butter with sugar until creamy, then add eggs one by one, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla essence.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with milk. Fold in apple pieces.
Pour the batter into the prepared mold and arrange reserved apple slices on top. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the mold for 10 minutes before unmolding onto a cooling rack. Sprinkle with glass sugar for decoration.
This cake is wonderful as a breakfast treat or dessert! For added flavor, sprinkle in some cinnamon or nutmeg.
