  • Parchment Paper
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Crack in the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition, then pour in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry mix, stirring gently.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Notes

For an extra moist cake, brush cooled layers with simple syrup before frosting. Store the sweet cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. If frosted, refrigerate to prevent spoilage. Use an electric mixer for best results in creaming butter and sugar, and ensure not to overmix the batter. Presentation suggestions include topping with fresh fruits, dusting with powdered sugar, or adorning with edible flowers for a special touch.
