Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Heatproof bowl
  • Melon baller or teaspoon
  • Parchment paper
  • Fork (for drizzling)

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces high-quality semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • q.s. Cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut (for coating)

Instructions

  • To begin, finely chop the semi-sweet chocolate and place it in a heatproof bowl. Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it starts to simmer but doesn’t boil. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for a minute. Gently stir until the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
  • Once your ganache is silky smooth, stir in the unsalted butter and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until all the ingredients are fully incorporated. Allow it to cool slightly before transferring it to the refrigerator to set.
  • After chilling the ganache for about two hours, scoop out small portions using a melon baller or teaspoon. Roll each portion between your palms to form smooth spheres. Place the shaped truffles on a parchment-lined tray and return them to the fridge for another 30 minutes to firm up.
  • Now comes the fun part: coating! Dust your hands lightly with cocoa powder to prevent sticking, then roll each truffle in your choice of coating. Arrange the finished truffles on a serving plate and admire your handiwork.

Notes

Crafting Valentine’s Day Chocolate Truffles not only fills your kitchen with a heavenly aroma but also creates a memorable gifting experience that speaks directly from the heart.
